Her career in journalism began with Myrtle Beach South Carolina as an anchor and reporter for news with WPDE-TV. In the following years, she worked as a morning news anchor and crime reporter for WCBD-TV. The journalist's report on the lack of responses of police officers to DUI cases in Charleston led to an investigation being conducted by the State Law Enforcement Division, which resulted in a new direction from the state authorities on DUI cases. Ms. O'Dell was recognized by The Associated Press with the Best Report of the Year award for all media in South Carolina. After her time at Charleston, O'Dell worked as anchor for the NBC's Miami Station WTVJ-TV and as an investigative journalist. She then was hired by Access Hollywood to work as an anchor on weekends and weekdays. O'Dell in addition to being the lead anchor for Access Hollywood, also appears on NBC News Today as well Dateline NBC. She has covered major events like The Oscars, The Emmys, The Grammys, and The Golden Globe Awards. Alongside co-hosting the Pre-ShowArrivals in preparation for The Emmys & The Golden Globes. Co-hosted also for the Miss USA pageant and the Miss Universe pageant.
